Recent Assignment

My most recent assignment was to make atmospheric images of ace classical trumpeter, Jo Harris of Bella Tromba playing on Vanlaar handmade trumpets, as she laid down a recording of a special project in an old church famous for its incredible acoustics. I will be doing more work with Jo later this year.

I love working with musicians. Jo was very specific about what she hoped to achieve and how she wanted to use them in her project which fit perfectly with the way I like to work.

I first worked with musicians back in 1998 when I photographed at Wexford Festival Opera in Ireland. I had total access to all areas in the weeks running up to opening night. I used the work from this project to secure a place on the Documentary Photography and Photojournalism Program at the International Center of Photography School in New York City.

I look forward to working with more musicians and actors in 2021 if and when the covid emergency eases up.

I used Fujifilm X100 series cameras here which are silent and excellent in low light along with the lens converters so working in equivalent 28, 35 and 50mm focal lengths, a traditional documentary set up.
